The two-episode movie "Northern Lights: Rustle of Wings" is an adaptation of Victoria Platova’s work of the same name and tells the story of another crime that detective Agata Sever and her assistant Marusya set out to solve. Agata is herself the author of popular detective novels, but the real cases she encounters are no less intricate in their intrigue and unexpected plot twists than those in books. In the episode "Rustle of Wings," the action takes place on the shores of Lake Ladoga, where Agata has temporarily moved to take a break from the concerns of city life. However, the detective does not get to rest for long. First, Agata encounters fellow writer Margarita Pavlova, toward whom she feels professional antipathy, and then becomes involved in yet another complicated crime. On an island, the body of a man with unusual wounds is found—the unfortunate man appears to have been bitten by giant mosquitoes. Agata begins her investigation, unaware of the horrifying events she is about to face. To find the answer to this dreadful mystery, the pragmatic skeptic Agata must turn to ancient legends about vampires.
