The two-part movie "Northern Lights: Traces of Death" from the adventure series about writer and detective Agatha Sever plunges viewers into the atmosphere of the harsh romance of Lake Ladoga, where the sleuth has settled with her assistant Marusya. This time, Agatha must confront not only cunning criminals but also an annoying cold. Yielding to the persistent persuasion of her assistant Marusya, Agatha finally goes to the hospital, where she is immediately seized by troubling suspicions: why has an epidemic of unknown origin suddenly broken out in this northern region? Meanwhile, a man dies in agony in a cave on the lakeshore, with some kind of diary on his knees. A stranger takes the notebook, and soon another incident occurs: two foreign tourists disappear without a trace. Agatha is eager to unravel the case herself, but the trouble is that the arrogant detective does not have the best reputation in this area, and there is little hope to be placed on witness testimony. Moreover, Agatha must do without her faithful assistant, who volunteers to care for yet another foreigner who appears on the hospital doorstep uttering a delirious phrase about a terrible monster.
