The main character of the Series is Matvey Strogov. The Series is based on the eponymous novel by Georgy Markov and depicts life in a pre-revolutionary Siberian village. The plot revolves around the Strogov peasant family, who face difficult historical events. They must endure the Russo-Japanese War, the Revolution of 1905, followed by the October Revolution and the Civil War. Over the course of these events, the simple peasant Matvey undergoes a difficult journey from a peaceful beekeeper to the commander of a partisan detachment.
