The detective Series "Dance of the Marionettes," based on the novel of the same name by Elena Mikhalkova, tells the story of one of the most intriguing cases in the practice of private detectives Sergey Babkin and Makar Ilyushin. A major businessman, Oleg Tagoev, turns to the detectives with a request to find his missing daughter Yulia, and at first the case seems quite ordinary—all Sergey and Makar have to do is follow up on all of the girl’s connections. But the deeper the colleagues delve into the investigation, the more horrifying facts come to light. It turns out that Tagoev’s missing daughter had the misfortune of becoming involved with some very strange people. The detectives discover a certain Marta Rudolfovna—an domineering and arrogant old woman for whom Yulia worked as a housekeeper. The friends wonder why such a well-off girl would need such a job, only to soon learn that Marta Rudolfovna had been preparing Yulia for some obscure ritual. The girl herself was pursuing no less mysterious goals, and only by uncovering all the circumstances of this unusual arrangement will the detectives be able to come closer to solving the mystery.
