The Series begins in 1974, when tragedy strikes the family of two young brothers, Slava and Seryozha. Their father dies in a car accident, and their mother loses her mind with grief and leaves home. As a result, the boys end up in an orphanage, from which the younger Seryozha is taken in by a wealthy family from the capital. At the time, Seryozha was only seven years old, but his older brother still perceived his departure as a betrayal. Soon, he replaces his brother with Kolya, a friend from the orphanage, and years later, having grown up, Slava still cannot forgive Seryozha. But the bonds between brothers cannot simply be broken...
