The 1990s. Serviceman Vasily Gradov commits a serious crime and is forced to leave his fiancée Nina behind. He starts a new life with Mila, and soon they have a daughter, Masha. Vasily becomes a successful businessman in Moscow, unaware that he has another child with Nina—a daughter named Vasilisa. Many years later, the past catches up with the characters when the girls’ paths cross.
