The main character, Nadezhda, lives with her grandfather in a remote settlement in the Southern Urals. She paints clay pots and is also in love with a local young man named Pavel, whom she dreams of marrying. However, his parents oppose their relationship and send their son to Moscow to find a bride of higher social standing. Some time later, Nadezhda’s grandfather dies, after which she decides that nothing is holding her in the village anymore, so she goes to Moscow to follow her beloved. On the train, Nadezhda meets Leyla and Oksana, who are also traveling to Moscow to fulfill their dreams. When the girls are robbed, they have to stick together to survive this difficult situation and achieve what they want. Along the way, the friends will face many more trials.
