The events of the first season of the cult Series "Gangster Petersburg" unfold in the autumn of 1992 and revolve around a Rembrandt painting that the old "thief-in-law" Baron took from the apartment of a corrupt deputy, along with other valuables and money. St. Petersburg’s "Godfather," Govorov, nicknamed Antibiotic, who had been providing protection to the deputy, orders a "bought-off" Interior Ministry lieutenant colonel to arrest Baron and force him to reveal the painting’s whereabouts. Finding himself in prison, the seasoned criminal realizes that very powerful figures are behind his arrest and decides to hand the painting over to crime reporter Andrei Obnorsky, whose interview he secures for himself in exchange for information. Baron asks the journalist to find the woman he loves, who is keeping the painting, but does not have time to give her surname, suffers an attack, and dies. Andrei sets out to search for that art historian from the Hermitage, unaware that gangsters are following close on his heels and that he will soon have to face several tragedies.
