The fifth season of the cult Series "Gangster Petersburg" moves chronologically back to the era of the late USSR, and the plot focuses on the personality of the talented detective Alexander Zverev. Having started as an ordinary intern, Sasha builds a brilliant career, rising to the rank of captain. His work forces him to deal with various shady characters, but in another Alexander—Maltsev, nicknamed "Soldier"—he finds a kindred spirit. Fate gives Zverev the chance to help Maltsev in trouble by providing him with information about the scum who assaulted the gangster’s daughter. Meanwhile, Zverev himself falls hopelessly in love with the seductive Anastasia Tikhoretskaya—a judge and, ironically, the wife of his immediate superior. Wanting to win the beauty’s heart, the captain decides to break the law and punish a group of swindlers by taking the stolen money from them. For this operation, Zverev enlists "Soldier" and his gang. Realizing that he is taking an enormous risk, Alexander cannot stop—he has already fallen too deeply in love.
