The Series «Two Shores» tells the story of two families living on opposite banks of a Ural river. They are the prosperous Skolchins and the poor Ermakovs. Since time immemorial, there has been an irreconcilable feud between these families. The situation becomes especially tense in the early 1930s. The eldest Ermakov becomes chairman of the collective farm, while the Skolchins have no intention whatsoever of giving the collective farm what their family has acquired. However, by fate’s will, the children of these families, Misha Ermakov and Varya Skolchina, fall in love with each other. Varya’s father, Platon, is categorically opposed to their marriage and intends to marry his daughter off to a man she does not love. The lovers decide to flee to the city to start a new life there.
