The events of the Series «Breakaway» unfold in 1947. The main character is front-line soldier Alexei Mitrokhin, who comes to Moscow to visit his former battalion commander Argunov. During the war, Argunov saved Alexei from execution. Upon arriving at the spot, Mitrokhin learns that his comrade-in-arms has been sentenced to 25 years. He was sent to the «Lazo» camp to serve his sentence. Alexei feels indebted to Argunov for saving his life, so he dares to take a bold step—he wants to organize Argunov’s escape from prison.
