The Russian multi-part war drama "Outpost" tells of a real armed confrontation that unfolded in 1993 on the Tajik-Afghan border. The feat of the Russian border guards serving on this most dangerous frontier received insufficient public attention, which the Series "Outpost" successfully rectifies. The tragic events of the unequal battle between our soldiers and the superior forces of the Afghan mujahideen are shown through the eyes of outpost commander Captain Mansur Askerov, played by Farhad Makhmudov. He led a detachment that was doomed to certain death, yet fought the enemy to the last bullet. For the sake of greater spectacle, the creators filmed in another former Soviet country—Kazakhstan—but they managed to convey the tension and sense of terrible danger brilliantly. The Series is packed to the brim with shooting scenes; bursts of automatic gunfire and hand grenade explosions thunder across the screen everywhere. The soldiers die, but do not surrender, for duty comes first for true fighters, whose feat should be remembered.
