Several years pass. Marina is released on parole. She hopes to return to her former life, but encounters total distrust: no one will hire her, the neighbors whisper, and her husband says outright that he is tired of living with the «stigma». Unexpectedly, she is offered a spot at Gleb Zavadsky’s clinic. Marina is torn: working in a place where everything reminds her of the tragedy seems insane, but it is her only chance to get back on her feet. She agrees.
