Elena Koroleva, a journalist specializing in crime reporting, sees her life turned upside down in an instant. Waking up with a knife in her hand beside the lifeless body of her own husband, she cannot recall the events of the previous night. Despite her memory lapse, Elena is firmly convinced that she did not commit the crime. However, the system proves merciless toward her—she becomes the prime suspect in the case. The tragic irony is that the victim was a police officer, and the investigation is assigned to his closest friend. All the evidence, as if by some sinister design, points against Elena. Deprived of support and faced with universal distrust, the heroine makes a desperate decision—to flee. Her only goal is to get to the truth. In search of salvation, Elena turns to Roman Kalinin, an old friend she can still trust. Joining forces, they begin an independent investigation.
