The Series begins with a tragedy that occurs on a winter highway. Drunk Ivan, in the heat of an argument with his wife Nina, cuts off a small red car, which flies into a ditch from the collision. The woman demands that he stop and call an ambulance, but the man uses threats and blackmail to force her to keep quiet about what happened and drives away from the accident spot. It soon becomes clear that Aglaia, the mother of two children, dies in the crash. For her husband Yevgeny, the loss of his beloved wife becomes an irreparable tragedy. He is determined to find the person responsible for the incident at any cost. Meanwhile, Nina experiences an unbearable sense of guilt. She obtains a divorce from her cruel husband and, as a result of a series of circumstances, moves with her son to the same village where Yevgeny is trying to cope with his grief.
