Alexander Bertenev, nicknamed Schubert by his friends because of his musical talent, has unique hearing that allows him to catch the faintest noises and background sounds beyond the perception of ordinary people.
He would be happy to live a simple life, but the intelligence services, having learned of his talent, give him no peace. Once, Schubert had a chance to officially join the counterterrorism department, but certain circumstances prevented it. Some time later, he has to turn to the intelligence services again when his wife Olga is murdered. The criminals were clearly looking for something in his apartment. Soon, Schubert discovers that Olga had another life, which she had carefully hidden from him. His wife left Alexander audio codes that he must decipher to find out who is responsible for her death and what she became involved in before the tragedy.
